FAQs

1. How do I know if I have to complete ACE?

From 2009 onwards all students enrolled into a new course at UWA, regardless of their level of entry, will need to do the ACE module. You will be automatically enrolled in the unit and given WebCT access to it.

2. I am new to UWA and understand that I am required to do the ACE unit but when I go to my WebCT account I can not find the unit. What should I do?

To check whether you should have access email your query to the ACE help-line at ace-help@uwa.edu.au giving your full name and student number.

3. If I do not pass the ACE quiz with a mark of 80% or more within the first 10 weeks of semester, will I be able to try again?

No. It is important that you become familiar with the information contained within ACE as early as possible in your university studies. For this reason you are asked to do it in your first 10 weeks. After that "Not Complete" will be recorded on your academic record against "Academic Conduct Essentials" and this cannot be reversed.

 4. How do I know if I have satisfactorily passed ACE and that my marks have been recorded?

At any time you can go to the final quiz in ACE and click on "view submission". This will show the mark that is currently recorded for you. If it is greater than 80% then you have satisfied the requirements of the unit.

5. When will my grade be transferred to my academic record?

The grades our not transferred until after the current teaching period so if you are checking your details through Student Connect you will not see the grade recorded until then.

6. What happens if I forget to do ACE?

The chances of that are very unlikely since you will be given frequent reminders from your faculty lectures and tutors as well as librarians. Reminder emails will also be sent to your student email address.

7. If I do not pass ACE will I still be able to graduate?

ACE is a zero point unit so non-completion will not affect your ability to graduate, however, from a future employer’s perspective, “Not Completed” against Academic Conduct Essentials is likely to create a negative impression of your professionalism.

8. When will my grade be transferred to my academic record?

The grades are not transferred until after the current teaching period so if you are checking your details through Student Connect you will not see the grade recorded until then.

9. How can I access ACE on an ongoing basis?

Once you have completed ACE you will be given access through your WebCT account to a reference version of the module (which is the same as the unit version but without the quiz). This will be available to you as an ongoing resource throughout your university studies.
